SportsCare Physical Therapy Athletic Trainers
SportsCare initiated an athletic training program in 2002 for local area high schools. The athletic trainers spend their mornings in the physical therapy clinic and transition to the high schools in the afternoons and evenings. At the high schools, the ATCs oversee all practice and game coverage, working to prevent, evaluate, treat injuries and implement rehabilitation programs. Through a collaborated team approach with the physical therapy clinic and physicians, athletes are able to receive further treatment at an accelerated rate. Our goal with this program is to maintain the health and safety of our highly competitive athletes.

Cameron Purington, BS, ATC Sam Barlow High School
Cameron graduated from Oregon State University in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sports Science. Cameron is also a certified health and fitness instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine. He has worked as a personal trainer throughout the Northwest since 2004 and has helped people of all ages and skill levels achieve their health and fitness goals. Cameron is a native Oregonian who enjoys the outdoors; he is an avid disc golfer, and overall fitness enthusiast.
Heidi Loebach, MS, ATC Clackamas High School
Heidi completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training at Creighton University in 2006 and graduated from Oregon State University in 2008 with a Master’s Degree in Nutrition and Exercise Science. While at OSU, she worked with the Men’s and Women’s Rowing Teams as a Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer. Heidi enjoys all outdoor activities, but is especially fond of hiking and camping with her dog, playing softball, and snowboarding.
Erica Irwin, ATC Rex Putnam High School
Erica was born in Germany and raised in Hawaii. She moved from Hawaii to attend Trinity Western University in Langley B.C. for my undergraduate in Kinesiology. Following Trinity Western, Erica studied at Mount Royal College for her Athletic Training Certification. Erica has been with SportsCare since November of 2009. In her free time she enjoys living life, getting out and having fun. Her major passions are Jesus Christ, surfing, and hiking.
Joe Givens, MS, ATC Sandy High School
Joe is from Gresham, OR, and attended Gresham High School. He continued his education at Concordia University in NE Portland, where he received his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science while playing soccer for the Cavalier’s. Joe graduated from Concordia in 2008 then entered a Master of Science in Athletic Training program at the University of Hawaii. He completed one year at UH, then transferred to Bridgewater State University, to complete his Master’s degree. While in school, Joe worked as a Student Athletic Trainer for Hawaii’s football team, and for Bridgewater State’s women’s soccer and softball teams. Joe graduated in the spring of 2011 and joined Gresham SportsCare in August. Joe enjoys playing soccer, exercising and cooking.
Rhonda Thompson, MA, ATC Gresham High School
Rhonda is originally from Tripoli, Iowa. She went to the University of Northern Iowa to receive her BA in Athletic Training and graduated in 2004. She then traveled to San Jose State University for Graduate school earning her MA in Kinesiology in 2007. Rhonda has four years of experience as an assistant athletic trainer working for the University of Texas at El Paso. Rhonda got married in May of 2011 and has lived in Oregon since. She joined SportsCare in August of 2011. In her free time she enjoys being with her family, reading and spending time outdoors.
Alex Nelson, BS, ATC Reynolds High School
Alex is from Spokane, Washington. He went to Oregon State University where he studied Athletic Training. After college Alex got an internship at Cleveland State University working with women’s soccer, cross country, and softball. He enjoys snowboarding, golfing and playing soccer.
Aaron MacInnes, BS, ATC Centennial High School
Aaron is originally from Salem, Oregon. He graduated in 2009 from Oregon State University with his Bachelors Degree in Exercise and Sports Science and began working for SportsCare as an Athletic Trainer that summer. In 2011, Aaron decided to attend the University of Montana, in Missoula, MT, to further his education by earning a Masters Degree. In 2014, Aaron returned to SportsCare and now works at Centennial High School. In his spare time, Aaron enjoys lifting weights for exercise, cooking, outdoor sports such as golf and hiking, and anything that has to do with the Oregon coast.
John Badagliacco, MS, ATC Corbett High School
John was born in Chicago, IL, but grew up in the northwoods of Hayward, WI. After completing his Bachelors degree in Kinesiology – Athletic Training at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, John headed west to pursue his Masters degree in Human Physiology – Athletic Training at the University of Oregon. During his time there he also worked as a Graduate Athletic Trainer for Oregon football, baseball, track and cross country. After graduation he spent time backpacking through South America with his younger brother, Jim. In his free time John enjoys traveling, live music, and doing pretty much anything outdoors.
